Mildew and Mold a Smelly Problem

The formation of dirty, messy and smelly mold and mildew is one of the biggest household dilemmas. These dirty sites are commonly found in kitchen sinks, toilet tiles, window panes and the like, even on food, which are easily noticed by any house visitors.

Mold in homes is a kind of fungus that grows in areas where the level of moisture is relatively high.  And since most areas at home are of high moisture quantity, it is likely to grow in many parts. Mold spores are spread through the air. It is almost everywhere and that’s why you have to make sure that everything is clean and dry to prevent mold from forming.

Basically, it is formed in gloomy, damp areas. When the air circulation is quite limited, house molds are likely to form and develop fast.

Aside from the ugly view it produces, mold and mildew also gives off a  stinking smell that is very unpleasant to the nostrils and they damage foods, fabrics and wood. They are expert in destroying various areas and objects at home.

Mold problem has been an inspiration for many home wellness industries to create products that will solve this seemingly unresolvable phenomenon. In the past decades, varieties of cleaning items are introduced in the market to get rid of mildew and mold in no time.

There are a variety of mold cleaners and chemicals that are tested to eliminate dirt and odors in no time.

  • Chlorinated lime for example can be applied to any surface to prevent unpleasant odor.
  • Another helpful chemical is sodium hydrochloride, commercially known as light bleach solution that is very effective when scrubbed into areas infected by mold.
  • Fungicide sprays, peroxide bleach, chlorine bleach or lemon juice and salt are some solutions which you can apply to clothes and fabrics to make it mold-free.
  • Aside from that, alcum powder, commercially known as cornstarch is very popular to eliminate molds attached to wood, paper and leather.

But, with all of these remedies at home, you should remember that cleanliness is the number one agent to fight against the formation and removal of mildew and mold. Always make sure that everything is hygienic, uncontaminated and dry.

Keep the air moisture regulated by using dehumidifiers and air purifiers at home. Never have watery surface because this may cause mold to easily spread out and be attached to it. Aside from that, always maintain a free flowing air passage throughout the house to help keep the moisture in the surrounding low.
